This discussion was started in a previous thread http://drupal.org/node/175518, but I'm moving here to keep the issues separate.
Lots of folks seem to be using the usernode module nowadays, so it's probably worthwhile to generate the appropriate add relationships links. I wrote some instructions for how to do it ad hoc in the previous node, but to get wider adoption, we should probably generate these links from the module. Since there's no hook_usernode() that I'm aware of, I think we have a few options:
* add the links to the $node object via hook_nodeapi() and let folks theme things themselves
* put the links into local tasks
* generate a block with the links
I lean toward the block option b/c it requires very little technical knowledge to implement on your site and gives you flexibility about where the links ought appear, but either of the other options could work.

New block created called "User Relationships: Actions" that displays the same information displayed on the user page only in a block that can be put anywhere.
