My dream is to be able to hand off COD to a non-Drupal person who wants to run an event and say "Here, use this!" but unfortunately COD isn't quite there yet...

One thing that would help a ton though is COD shipping with a sample node that just explained some of the "getting started" instructions. How to set up your sessions, how to enable payment, etc. This could link to all the right places so that someone who wasn't familiar with Drupal could seek out what they need.

I'd be willing to help with this. I haven't spun up a D7 version yet, but I have some experience with D6 and our organizations Science Conference. I'll try to get a D7 site up this weekend and take some notes on the process. If anyone knows of any good content outside of the included documentation and what's on UseCod.com please ping me. I've been meaning to get going on the Drupal Ladder so maybe this is my entre. I'll contact Ezra and see if he has any suggestions. Thanks for the nudge webchick.

Version: 7.x-1.x-dev » 7.x-1.0-alpha1
Category: feature » bug
Priority: Normal » Minor
Issue tags: +Documentation, +COD

I installed the D7 COD Project cod-7.x-1.0-alpha1-core.tar.gz on my local XAMPP dev environment and went to the Help Section to look over the site help options as part of my walk-through documentation. On the Conference Organizing Distribution (COD) help index page (admin/advanced_help/cod) you get the following links

README
README_devel_node_access
readme

The two README files are identical as far as I can tell except for the one being capitalized and the other being lowercase. The README_devel_node_access link takes the user to a page (help/cod/README_devel_node_access.txt) with just the following content:

README_devel_node_access
Missing help topic.

I'm guessing that this is not the functionality that is expected. This is my first foray into the issue queue so let me know if I'm off target or if I need to add more details. Thanks.

I share @webchick's Dream!

I actually wonder if COD should ship with "demo event" data.

A simple setup with a few session nodes, already scheduled into a basic program outline. Then it would be easy to do some screenshots explaining what things are, how to edit them, etc.

And, just like we start a basic Drupal install with Standard and Minimal - perhaps COD installers could choose to have the demo data or not?

Would adding the "README" text to node/1 be a start?

Issue summary: View changes

I think demo content would be a -GREAT- addition! With COD in beta, and the data model a bit more fleshed out, I think this is definitely possible.

In the meantime, Documentation has been greatly improved, and is located here:
