Is it a good idea for the later version of the module to support clone a field collection as a whole? My experience of using the Field Tools as well as Field Collection module at the same time made me realize that perhaps it might be a good idea. Any feedback would be appreciated!

yup, feel free to add that as a requirement to #1352162: Support copying fieldgroup from one content type to another with all included fields in it. (Which, BTW, needs someone to work on it! :)

Thank you for your response joachim. My php knowledge is very limited so I might not be able to work on it myself. Hopefully someone else can make that happen.
