Is it possible to assign rel="nofollow" atrributes to content in the sliding drawer?
Currently a lot of searches for pages on my site result in rankings with the following as page descriptions:
"Skip to main content. Shopping basket. There are no products in your shopping cart. 0 Items, Total: £0.00. Shopping Basket..."

If there is an alternative to 'nofollow' all feedback is welcome!

Thanks,
Paul

I don't think there's any point. At least two years ago Google told us not to use nofollow on internal site links, and that in effect it doesn't work for internal links, that in effect Google removed the ability to sculpt page rank by using nofollow on internal links.

Certainly using nofollow is not going to suddenly remove or change the search result description. I think the problem is your content, or that your site is new and Google (or other search engines) have not yet determined exactly what your content is about.

That said I think this raises an interesting issue, that in some circumstances this "Skip to main content" string can be used in the description simply because its in every page. I'm not entirely sure how to get around that other than using JavaScript to inject the link. Now that said, Google and other search engines generally do a bang up job of excluding boilerplate content, so I think my view of this holds true, that you need to give it more time and/or improve your content.

paulfield05,

it's really, really simple to solve your issue - just add meta descriptions to your pages and in a few days Google will start displaying those in its results.

Yeah, I tend to agree Stan, adding meta descriptions does work, easy also: http://drupal.org/project/metatag
