There's an overview page for this initiative here:

Note however that the above link is primarily about the development effort whereas this particular issue is just for the content in the administration guide (i.e. administrator facing)

Thanks for bringing this up! I think it might still be a little premature to start on this as changes are still on the way, but it definitely needs to be done. My plan has been to get into the docs side of thing after feature freeze is over when things are a little more solid.

I'm willing to spend some time with this once heyrocker thinks it's ready. This week I installed D8 and have been experimenting with moving configs between two sites. Feel free to send me a message if you have any documentation tasks to pass along.

Trying to deploy a site with CMI and git, I find docs for that are lacking.
There are quite some questions it the comments of the existing only doc page, mine are those https://drupal.org/documentation/administer/config#comment-7888235

Taking these questions as a guideline for docs might be a good starting point.
