Follow-up to: #1668292: Move simplified Profile module into core

Blocked on: #1801304: Add Entity reference field

Idea

  • While porting the contrib Profile2 module to D8, we asked ourselves whether it would be possible to attach the profile entities via entity reference field(s) to the User entity?

Let's discuss and explore this idea. It's unclear whether it will make sense and work out, but it is an interesting consideration.

As there's some momentum in the main profile issue, are there any thoughts on this? This approach hasn't been taken into consideration in the current version of the code.
