Assistance with basic OpenLDAP2 integration

I am building a very basic LDAP authentication with an internal Drupal web site. I have installed openLDAP2 and I have setup my ou's and dc's. However, the fields and options listed in your module are very detailed and being new to the LDAP integration side, I'm having issues with getting it connected. I was wondering if anyone had a list of base settings the LDAP module needed for this to connect correctly or provide additional documentation for what the module fields mean/represent.

EDIT: I'm simply looking for some documentation that will give a basic overview of what I need to put in the fields to make a successful connection. Both the LDAP module and LDAP server can be rebuilt - not an issue. I'm simply trying to understand how it works.
