Seems to me that services_views only provides XML output. I have not tried services_views but I did watch the video on the project page. Views_datasource out puts XML, OPML, ATOM, JSON, JSONP,RDF formats, hCard, hCalendar and Geo.
Services (Views) is a big module which provides more than just JSON output. You can create/edit/update/delete nodes and you also can login/logout or create users etc.
You don't need Services + Services Views if you just want to output a view as JSON.
