I've committed a small change that will first check if '#type' exists so this error will be prevented. You may test this using the latest code from git or wait for the next development release.

this error doesn't happen on 7.x-1.x-dev as it's said to be fixed above. Thank you for that.
But, the current released version is still 7.x-1.5 . And, it still causes the error on my node add/edit form. Do you have any plan for the release of 7.x-1.6?

stBorchertAh, I see you got "URL path settings" moved into one step.
Unfortunately this field does nothing (the field itself remains within the vertical tabs) and should not be attached to a step.
See #1244470: "Path module form elements" as an "extra field" on "Manage fields" page makes no sense for the issue in the pathauto issue queue or #1894468-6: Step label appearing at bottom of each form step for an in-depth description of the problem.

Please reopen this if the error persists in the latest dev version or 7.x-1.6 when it is released.
