We already have this graph "hidden" in a separate page (the "View usage statistics" link) so the data is there waiting. I don't propose displaying the graph in such detail as the dedicated stats page. So no separate graph lines for each branch - only the total one.
I realize that the current "Statistics (2 years)" section only holds stats related to issues (New issues/Open bugs/Participants), so this would probably mean promoting the issue-cockpit-metrics div to become its own block with the current "Statistics (2 years)" span becoming an h2 block header for that block.

dwwThis has been discussed before, but I couldn't find an existing issue about it.
project_usage needs to provide metrics for sampler API, just like project_issue is doing now.
I'm not going to be able to work on this or help with it at all until after the D7 port is done, but I don't necessarily want to mark it postponed in case someone else happens to be motivated to get it done.
