Sidebar gets nested appearance in IE8

I'm doing a redesign of a site in at www.catherinecoulter.com, and all seems great until I look at it in IE8. The menu blocks in sidebar first start nesting themselves. From what I can see, it looks to me like the close section tag, is missing. I try it in IE9 and 10 and the close section tag is there, but not on IE8. Is this a bug, something I did, or by design?

I'm trying fix the title's extra word. The site is live now under it's regular address, but the problem still is there.
