I'd like to download Drupal and start to dig in but I'm wondering if I should stick with 4.5.2 at the moment or just skip ahead to 4.6.0 RC. It would be nice if I didn't have to upgrade if 4.6 is going to be finalized in the near future. Is there much to upgrading? Which one would you go for if your were just starting out?

Thanks,
Tim

Insufficient information to give you advice. You need to outline your objectives with your site.

Unless you need a module which is not available for 4.6 I'd go with 4.6. Day by day more and more modules are available and a few modules under the cvs tab are for 4.6, too.

While I agree with chx on using 4.6rc, if you go for the cvs modules without knowing which ones are under development and which ones arn't......... you may end up having a problem.

For a new site using core features (and/or image module) I would recommend going with 4.6rc. If there is a module that does what you want in the 4.6 tree, then good too, it tends to indicate that the contributing devloper is maintaining it. :)

I'd recommend 4.6 cvs. It's stable enough to use and it will save you a lot of problems upgrading when it is officially released.

Thanks for the advice. I'll download 4.6 and give it a go.

I'm finishing a project for a client using 4.5.2, I have added many modules and created some and I'll stay with 4.5.2 for this site.

However, I am redesigning my own site and will be using 4.6RC, this way I will able to move from Wordpress to Drupal and have my business site and blog managed together.

I'd love to migrate my vBulletin forum too but that would be too much work and most of my forum members are already used to the interface of it :)

Thank you guys for such a great application.

I was going to post the same question. My own personal site is still running 4.42, but I'm starting fresh with a client site and was wondering what to go with.

It seems that the answer has to do with modules, and if I need any from 452 that aren't out with 460 yet.

THanks,
Warr
