I'm not really sure about vanity numbers. I guess they need to be converted from letters to numbers before they are made a tel:
link.

Dave ReidI'm not sure this is an actual bug, and I'm also not sure that we can reliably do something about it. In #2004144: tel: link is improperly formatted I pointed out that the characters 'm' and 'p' are valid according to the 'tel' protocol RFC. So do we only convert certain letters? I think this would be best implemented as a custom formatter.

hass CreditAttribution: hass commentedNot sure how to go forward here best. Never tried to dial a vanity number in a tel link jet. I thought it needs numbers as phones only understands numbers, but I may was wrong with this assumption. Has someone an android and could give it a try, please?

zaporylieFrom RFC3966:
IMHO we could either:
- add vanity number conversion option to the formatter provided in core
- leave it as is (works as designed) due to lack of proper validation

This issue is quite old but I don't think this is a bug, if anything supporting vanity numbers would be a feature request, but I think this issue lacks sufficient information to define the feature that is desired.
Perhaps https://www.drupal.org/project/telephone_formatter solves this now anyway.
