This is the main idea: Clicking on a cluster would zoom in and would not create a popup with the results for this cluster (views fields etc). Is this possible?

I've implemented this feature as part of the popup behaviour, check out the latest --dev release as it's been committed there. You'll find it as a new checkbox under the Popup for features behaviour.
I've recently found a bug with it and a patch is supplied at #2116409: Zoom to cluster functionality breaks popups when cluster threshold is not 0 cheers
