As well as setting Groups public or private, content visibility within groups can also be set explicitly.
In the diagram below Group 1 is private and Group 2 is public.
Page 4 is explicitly private and so it is only visible to members of Group 1 and Group 2. However, Page 5 is explicitly public so it is visible to all users, including anonymous users, even though it is associated with a private group.
Note that if an item of group content is not explicitly marked as public or private, access is dictated by the access control applied to the parent group.
