Custom time grouping + Overlapping time style in day view

Is there a way to get them both working at the same time in day view?
I want to have the day view to shpw only say, 09:00-17:00. Now that is easy using custom time grouping, but then my events/reservations only show start time properly. I can't get the overlapping to work.

Can anyone help with this? Thanks.
