I am exploring the use of images with this distribution and have found something that may be a bug or it may be me being stupid.
When I upload an image as a featured image in either the new content type of the story content type, all behaves well, and I can resize the image later if need be (using a full set of optional styles). However, if I create a landing page (ie a panel page) and add an image either by uploading the image into a text panel, or uploading it into an image panel, in either case the resizing options are much more limited.
If I insert the image into a text panel, I can resize it but have only the choices of original size, quarter size or thumbnail. If I use "add an image widget" there seems to be no way to resize the image at all.
Is this functionality as designed or am I missing something? It seems to me this is undesirably limiting.
Any help much appreciated.

alar CreditAttribution: alar commentedI'm having similar troubles. If I upload an image into TinyMCE I see the options: original size, quarter size or thumbnail. That's all... How do you add more?

In general, Media module has a set of preset image styles that Panopoly ships with that allows for easy access to making thumbnails and image styles. However, with the inclusion of Image Resize Filter this might not actually be helpful.

dsnopek@alar: you need to add a new display mode to the image file entity.
As far as choosing image styles on the image widget, that's a duplicate of #2119415: Make it possible to choose image style for image widgets.
