Having a check box at the end of the field row on the manage fields page in place of the "delete" buttton would be much simpler when deleting many fields from a content type. Check the boxes for fields to delete then click "save" at the bottom of the page. Voila!! Done.

I would say on the Content type too, or even better if only one variation will make it.

In the Content type > Tools >
I would add "Delete fields from this bundle"
with all the checkboxes like in "Clone fields from this bundle"
