Why no Large Envelope rates? I see Ubercart doesn't include them; Why is that? My products usually ship in Large Envelopes. USPS makes these rates available, don't they?

longwaveExactly which USPS service are you talking about (give the *full* name!), and where do you see that Ubercart doesn't include this. It can perhaps be added, but we need more details to go on.

topdillon CreditAttribution: topdillon commentedDomestically each weight from 1 ounce to 13 ounces has it's own rate (second category on this page, "Flats (Large 1st Class Envelopes)" http://www.nerdylorrin.net/jerry/postages/), and they are also available for foreign destinations up to 8 ounces (at least they were as of Jan 2, 2012 http://www.undergroundpress.org/pdf/postalrates.pdf).

longwaveI guess this was either not an available service, or was overlooked, when the USPS module was first developed several years ago.

topdillon CreditAttribution: topdillon commentedSo is this something that can be researched and/or added anytime soon? or should I create a new product for each multiple up to 20 (the likely ceiling) of each of my products, showing the 2 potential shipping costs as an attribute (domestic, international), and mark the products non-shippable? Or is there another approach that someone more clever/experienced than I would suggest?

topdillon CreditAttribution: topdillon commentedI just got off the phone with USPS. The First Class Large Envelope rates are made available to Ubercart. Would you be adding them in the U.S. Postal Service module?

topdillon CreditAttribution: topdillon commentedIs there any interest in adding Large Envelopes, At least domestic?

TR CreditAttribution: TR commentedIf you have a patch to offer then we can consider it. However I doubt that's really what you need. Ubercart has no way of telling whether your envelopes will be large or small, or if large whether they will be machinable (e.g. rigid or odd shaped) and charged as packages, not letters. But that's not a problem, as the whole point of shipping calculations is ONLY to figure out what to charge your customer. You are always free to choose your package and shipping method at shipping time - this is not something that needs to be known at purchase time. If you simply charge your customer for a First-Class Parcel, you should be fine. If that's charging too much consistently, you can always apply a percentage rate markup to reduce the amount you charge your customers. Or you could just configure a flat rate, as most of your packages probably cost the same amount. Or a flat rate proportional to the number of items purchased.

topdillon CreditAttribution: topdillon commentedWell then, I decided to include the shipping price in each product and make not shippable. It seems like my only option considering my setup. Not difficult as it only affects one product.

won't you be over charging for postage?
topdillon CreditAttribution: topdillon commentedNo, individual products will be:
1 pack
2 packs
3 packs
4 packs
5 packs
6 packs
7 packs
8 packs
9 packs
10 packs
15packs
20 packs, and a couple more options up to a reasonable maximum that should likely be ordered at once. Each pack contains a quantity of 100. And each product will have its shipping rate included.

TR CreditAttribution: TR commentedShipping is being refactored for 8.x-4.x. It's unlikely that this will be backported to 7.x-3.x.
