Can't get sample data

Hi,
I remember having successfully installed commerce kickstart a few month ago(can't remember the exact version though) so I went through the entire installation process again with sample data enabled using both v2.8 and v2.9 but all I only get the taxonomy terms. No product, product types, product displays at all which actually defeat the purpose of having sample data installed.
I can see the different product images properly installed in sites/default/files folder but no content in the database.

Can somebody help
