I made a site out of Omega 3. On that site I had Omega Panels entries. I'm now making a new site using Omega 4 and those Panels are no longer there. On the home page of my new site I want three columns in the content area, but the rest of the pages the content area will be one column. What is the best way to do that in Omega 4? Does regular Panels respond like the Omega Panels did in v3?

i believe that context may be an easier way to approach this than panels, just my opinion. check out context module, then you can create a context for viewing content on your home page that removes the other regions.

Panels is fine. I would not recommend to use Context for anything at this point. Context is not unmaintained, conceptually broken, slow, and really not a good choice as a tool anymore. I've been using Panels (and Panels Everywhere) combined with Panelizer exclusively for more than a year now and never looked back. That said, YES, we do NOT have the Omega 3.x panels in 4.x. This issue: https://drupal.org/node/1906930 is going to solve PART of that problem by sharing Omega Layouts between the core block system and panels after which we will create a handful of nice, modern, responsive layouts which you can then use in Panels Everywhere or in the default Drupal blocks fashion.

HOWEVER we do NOT yet have any actual Panels layouts (for content) in Omega 4.x... I am definitely going to add a few though. I will probably take the ones we have in 3.x right now and convert them to modern standards and semantic grids.

ah, that would be nice - one of the reasons i steered clear of panels was the use of the new omega 4 and ohm sub theme, but looks like you'll be fixing some of it!

Yeah, we will release Omega 4.x in Prague (at DrupalCon) and until then (yes, it's just one week left) we will add approx. 10 additional layouts. This is basically the last release-blocking issue apart from a minor feature that I am going to add this week too (sub-layouts). Other than that, we are basically ready.
