Devel Contrib module is all the extra things you'd like in Devel module, but aren't in Devel module because it only supports Core.
Devel Contrib adds a lot more items to the 'Development' menu that Devel module provides, each one showing useful information. Whatever contrib module you're working with, Devel Contrib module can help you make sense of the configuration, data structures, and APIs you're dealing with.
And if the particular contrib module you're working with isn't supported yet, please file a patch!
