Location marker is not shown

I just downloaded 7.x-2.8-beta4+2-dev to fix the zoom-control-missing issue, now the zoom control is back, thankyou.

I am using gmap to enter locations into a user-defined content type. When I move the mouse over the map, the mouse icon changes to the open hand (for dragging). When I click on the map, it does not display a marker. However the lat and long are shown correctly in the field boxes beneath the map.
