On install, the generic file and image formatters are enabled by default with the same weight for the image file type, after #2073001: Internet video sources fail with html5 video tags.
This ends up displaying generic file first for all view modes, including the preview view mode in the media browser.
Patch forthcoming to increase the image display just a bit so images are before generic file in the display precedence order.

When the Image module is enabled, it should automatically replace the default file formatter with the image formatter for all of the standard view modes in the image file type.
