I need to pass the content of a product field to a line item so it can be shown in the checkout form view next to Total. I know how to add a field to the line item but I don´t want the customer to fill that field during checkout. I just need to populate it with a value from a product field. Can this be done and how ?

You can either use Views for this or Rules to copy some value from the field to a custom line item field.
