Below is a duplicate copy of the project page. We need to include the awesome new theme settings, features and any other updates you see fit. This is our "landing" page if you will, it should look spiffy :)

Features

  • BootstrapCDN - "out-of-the-box" for faster page load times
  • Bootswatch (via BootstrapCDN) - change the theme with a simple click
  • Glyphicon support via the Icon API module. Allows Bootstrap icons to be inserted into menu items, fields, blocks and in text fields via a text format filter.
  • Integration with most of Bootstrap's CSS, Components and JavaScript
  • Theme settings to further enhance Drupal/Bootstrap integration:

Requirements

  • jQuery 1.7+ - Bootstrap requires a minimum jQuery version of 1.7 or higher. The preferred method to accomplish this task is to install the jQuery Update (version 7.x-2.3 or higher) module. NOTE: If using jQuery Update, you must also configure the jQuery Update setting to this version after it is installed.

Installation

  1. Install the Bootstrap base-theme in sites/all/themes or a
    similar sites/*/themes folder.
  2. Ensure that jQuery has been configured to meet Bootstrap's minimum 1.7 or higher version requirement.

Documentation

There's been some amazing Drupal Community work done around Bootstrap. Many of your questions can be answered in our Bootstrap Documentation section by individuals who have helped further expand Bootstrap's integration with Drupal:

Drupal 7

  • 7.x-3.0
This the latest stable release of Bootstrap 3. Please use this release for all production sites.
  • 7.x-3.x-dev
This is the latest development branch. This version should only be used if you are helping in the issue queue by applying patches or creating patches.
  • 7.x-2.2
This is the last release supporting Bootstrap 2.3.2. This version is no longer being worked on. Only major security issues will be patched against this branch.

Drupal 8

#D8CX: We pledge that Bootstrap will have a full Drupal 8 release on the day that Drupal 8 is released.

  • 8.x-2.x-dev
This is a development branch. Please note that this branch is probably severely broken. It is strongly recommended to wait before using this branch or even creating issues regarding it.

added some exciting new text and a few links

BTW _ i think that below the bootstrap for drupal image (which is WAY too big imho) you should also add a screen cap for one of the bootswatch themes as well.

when people visit theme pages, they are ALWAYS looking for a demo or screenshots...

ALSO: demo should link to something like: http://bootswatch.com/flatly/ and NOT simplytest.me, because that is WORK and people are lazy, they just want to demo and click things and scroll, not run an install (my opinion)

I agree that we should add a Bootswatch image (or collage of the screenshots as one). However, I think the "logo" is fine.

I completely disagree about the demo though. The whole point of the demo is to showcase the Drupal integration. We don't have all the "features" or "styles" implemented in something like http://bootswatch.com/flatly/. Ultimately though, I want to have something very similar to showcase all of what this base theme does out of the box, that is definitely down the road though. For now, a simplytest.me demo is perfect.

the logo is great - it just seems so physically large! i was thinking same logo but at maybe 70 percent of size

as for the demo, i hear you - the drupal integration demo is paramount, i was just thinking that simplytestme generates a sort of empty and sparse feeling...maybe somebody could donate space to generate a live drupal/bootstrap install that people can play around with (pantheon perhaps? they're very pro-drupal-community)

zilla’s picture

on a side note: what do people think of bootstrap shipping with an actual sub theme - perhaps built from a bootswatch like (pick one)?

this would be similar to how omega 4 now arrives with Ohm sub theme to make development that.much.faster for theming and styling...

in the case of bootstrap, it would just need a very simple instruction set like "download bootstrap and place in this folder so that it says..."

it could be called something like "drupestrap"

Re: demo

I talked with the guys over at Pantheon, I think we can do what you're asking using the https://drupal.org/project/demo module. We just need to setup the cron to restore from a backup every hour or so.

that would be awesome - maybe throw in icon api and fontello and place assorted icons on blocks to dress it up a bit - or perhaps even use it to store some additional documentation? not sure that works with demo module though since the whole point is a reset on cron
