I recently upgraded to 7.x-1.0-beta7 because I wanted to give better descriptions to my view pages for search engines. Once I upgraded I enabled the "Metatag: Views" component of the module and it was all working nicely until I noticed that a floating pipe symbol before the [site:name] in the main search listing for the site.

The "Metatag: Views" component of the module is overriding the "Global: Front page" settings.

  • Title in "Global: Front page" settings = [site:name]
  • But front page is displaying the "Views" title setting instead = [view:title] | [site:name]

I don't want to name the view and have "Home" appear in the title but if I leave it blank I have a floating pipe symbol before the [site:name] on the front page (which I want for all the other views).

I've tried a couple of workarounds, such as:

  • Disabling the Views component and adding rules for the views paths but then the description doesn't come up at all in the page source.
  • Adding " |" to the end of my views and removing it from the views title setting (eg. [view:title] [site:name]) but that broke my contexts.

I wasn't sure if this was a bug or a support request. I thought that the "Global: Front page" settings would override the other settings that are listed below it in Metatag, in which case this would be a bug. But any suggestions on how to get around this issue would be much appreciated so I've logged it as a support request.

Thanks, A
