Replacement for Gallery Formatter? [#2130311]

Hi,

I currently use Gallery Formatter to display an image gallery on my node - to display upto 8 images, would colorbox be a good replacement for this? The reason I ask is because colorbox looks a bit more pretty, but can it display the gallery like 'gallery formatter' can, eg 1 big image with smaller images underneath, and when one of the smaller images is clicked it will show it in the larger image region? I just wanted to know in advance before I start pulling my site apart :)

Colorbox is more of a popup kind of thing, where you'd have thumbnail images that, when clicked, open a popup "overlay" with a larger version of the image. Once in the popup, you can navigate forwards/backwards through the gallery, or you can just close the overlay and click on another thumbnail.

So, it could be a replacement, but it would not function exactly the same as what you have now.

Thanks for the answer, I think this would be good for me, so I will give it a try, am I correct in thinking it can display other content and not just images? for example can I use a 'colorbox' to show login fields when the user clicks login, rather than having a login page? just 1 example i can think of. I have looked at the description but i'm not sure.

Actually I think that functionality used to be in this module but was removed. Now it's recommended to use something like this for that kind of thing: https://drupal.org/project/modal_forms

Thanks for the recommendation - That module looks like it should do what I want. I did see some tutorials with colorbox that had the login options but I had no options in my configuration, so you are probably right when you say the features were removed. Thanks for the reply
