I recently upgraded my site from D6 to D7. None of my content came through after the upgrade. I imported my D6 database to my upgraded site. On import, all node IDs were replaced by new ones. SO, all the links are broken. I'm manually fixing the links. There are hundreds of links that will need to be fixed. Is there a way to fix this issue?

I'm new to Drupal. So, I'm not sure if I missed some step. I followed the upgrade instructions provided on this site.

Overwriting database records is definitely not a good idea. I would recommend you restoring your site to the Drupal 6 version. Check the modules that your website uses. If there are such that are not compatible with Drupal 7 try turning them off and then proceed with the upgrade.
