Expand all children of this tree not expanding menu

I've just installed this module but it's not working as I think it should...I've selected "Expand all children of this tree." but the menu is still requiring me to click for the menu to expand. I need it to display all items and children at the same time by default. I've attached a screenshot of what I'm getting.
