Recently tried environment_indicator 7.x-2.x and having used environment_indicator 6.x and 7.x-1.x I was surprised that the new 2.x branch no longer supports left or right side vertical placement. Is there a reason for dropping that?
In addition to that the top integration with admin menu these changes make the upgrade to 2.x more significant than some users might want.

e0ipsoIt's a common design pattern to have the indicators at the top (take for instance the D7 migration advise for Drupal.org). Can you think of a sensible use case to not to use the horizontal bar and use the vertical one instead?
The admin_menu and toolbar integration are one of the most valued additions to the 2.x branch. Maybe you mean that the integration could be optional, right? If that is the case then please open a new issue for that and I will happily work on it when I have the bandwidth.
Thanks!
