Situation:
User performs an availability search for dates in which rooms ARE available, but selects Group Size that exceeds highest capacity of available rooms. No rooms are found (correct behaviour), but message states ...
Unfortunately no rooms are available - try different dates if possible.
This is misleading, since no change in dates will alter the outcome of the search, and does not alert the user to the fact that rooms are available, but only for a smaller group size.
Possible solution:
code should check reason for no rooms being available, and more helpful error messages given, eg
- Absolutely no rooms available on one or more days in currently selected date range --> current message is appropriate.
- 2 or more rooms are available that could accommodate group total number --> message should indicate max group size/room for currently selected dates, suggest try again with same dates but split group up with smaller rooms.
- Insufficient total bed numbers available for current dates and group size --> try smaller group or different dates

jwilson3This is a good UX problem that I'd like to see improved and or work on too.
