Seem to be the reverse of what some people have previously complained about, but in my case I'm trying to sell variations on products (race entries), but the total number of products is what should be decremented.

Is it possible to set the default SKU to active with a stock value and then have that SKU reduced whenever there is an order of any variation of the product? It's useful for me to use SKUs to filter in Views.

Update: What I really need is a way to count up all SKU variations and close registration (unpublish products) once I reach a certain number. Rules may be a better way to do this, but I have not looked into it.
