Ive been using Drupal for a while but im just looking at the IRC channels for the first time. Ive joined the #drupal, #drupal-support and #drupal-dojo channels and I cant see any conversations going on.

Am I using IRC wrong? Do you have to connect to users / a conversation within a channel?

Ive watched this video and read a few articles on drupal.org but I cant work out if im doing something stupid.

about conversations: sometimes there are more, sometimes there are less people talking, just ask your question and wait for someone to answer :)

Can't speak to the dojo channel, but there is definitely activity in #drupal and #drupal-support.

There are quiet times, and getting support rather depends on the right people being online at the relevant time. Some projects have office hours where they undertake to be online either for working on their project, or in some cases to provide support.
