Kudlakart is an online shopping website developed from three engineering students in mangalore (also called kudla) by using commerce kickstart profile. Site has many ecommerce functions with home delivery and cod methods. This site has simple and neat design. Site implemented good e-commerce functionality by drupal commerce and is responsive.
Why Drupal was chosen:
Developers of this site were not in a position to invest for paid web development or paid ecommerce cms as students. Weeks of research has shown the capablity of drupal for constructing an e commerce site with all needed functionality. Comparisons were made between drupal, joomla, shoppify before selecting drupal.
Describe the project (goals, requirements and outcome):
Goals
Main goal of kudlakart is to provide good online shopping service to the people of mangalore were no other online shopping sites are providing good service. Kudlakart was taken as small college project by developers, but goal turned into real online shopping site as developed.
Requirements
All the ecommerce functionality like categorization, add to cart, payment methods, shipping methods, rules etc were necessary to run the site.
Outcome
Now site has neat menu for navigation with 8 categories.
Cash on Delivery is the Payment method employed as other methods are not necessary for a city with approximately 5 km radius (mangalore).
Shipping methods are achieved by rules module.

Why these modules/theme/distribution were chosen:
Drupal commerce seemed to be better compared to other e commerce modules within drupal. However finished project is in commerce kickstart which is built on drupal commerce. For neat menu which is essential for online shopping site is definitely achievable by TB Megamenu. It also uses image blocks within menu in the site. Rules module in site is mainly used for creating free and paid shipping rules.

The design is simple and beautiful, but do has the good feautures of an e-commerce site. Add translations to local language if possible.
