Taxonomy Delegate and Manager working together?

Surprised not to find this asked anywhere... but am wondering if there have been any attempts to do some kind of limited access through taxonomy manager.

On our large site, we have Taxonomy Delegate set up for some moderator types to have access to the Vocabs used in freetagging on the site. We also have a number of other vocabs that are more crucial to the site structure and fairly static. With the large number of free tagged terms on the site, I'de like to be able to give these moderators the Tax Manager tool to use, but would breathe easier knowing they didn't have access to the rest.

Perhaps this has been worked on in 7?

Any thoughts/advice here?
