xhtml validation error - duplicate divs

With xhtml doctypes, you get an error with views slideshow because the first nodes div id is duplicated when the page is drawn. It's at the top of the page and in the list of slideshow nodes. You can't have duplicate css selector ids and be xhtml strict. Not a huge deal, but Drupal is moving in an xhtml strict place. Maybe some sort of designation like node-123-top or something predictable so your javascript can predict selectors?
