I have been unable to get the ads view to display. I read a comment where the suggestions was to use the simpleAds Block Example, but I think I already made errors in that file. [which I normally don't do so I apologize]. How can I reload the original file and start all over.

Currently, I can get ads to display when I use a grid view, but not when I try to change to simpleAds. I've tried dozens of things so would like to just start fresh and see if I can get the original view to work.

Not sure what file you are talking about. If you copied the simpleads_block.tpl.php to your theme (as you should have) then you can just copy it again, overwriting the modified file.
If you edited module files in place, you should disable te module, then remove the module. Perhaps check if the module files are realy removed then install again.

Or just upload the respective files again in the right place. Whatever works for you.

I had difficulty getting anything to show, until I checked at least one of the "Clicks", "Impressions" or "Days" and in my case added an amount of clicks.
