I have found the culprit to my woes: I've found that when I disable the flexslider_views module (not flexslider views slideshow which is not being used and has remained disabled), that I can again reorder my fields in a node/content type's Display Suite Manage Display form. When the Flexslider Views module is enabled again it causes the ajax loading animation to not complete and thus hangs the process of reordering fields. I can see the download/action completes but the ajax loading animation keeps going so it may be something more cosmetic related to hiding the loading animation layer. It may also be causing other issues that I haven't found yet, no idea.

Since my design and days of work have gone into formatting Views field rewrites for Flexslider, I'm stuck needing it, but once enabled it's causing issues with JS/AJAX that prevent basic function.

I have two separate views that use the Flexslider display mode on each page (header & footer regions), so they are on the Manage Display page in question that is having the issues. I get no specific error when viewing the page and monitoring it during field reordering in Safari, so I have no further information that I can provide other than I've disabled/enabled the flexslider_views submodule 3 sets of times now to make sure, and each time I tested a DS Manage Display form's field reordering I received the same result of a hand when enabled and no hang when disabled.

Any chance someone could look into this to make sure there's no namespace collision or something going on?

I've been disabling>testing>reenabling modules for more than 16 hours now, and finally found the source. Whew!

FYI, I do have the Views Sexy Throbber 7.x-2.0+14-dev enabled which provides a custom animation for views ajax loading. I tested it with flexslider views but with Views Sexy Throbber disabled but the problem persists.

Not sure if this addresses your issue but your mention of display suite conflicting with flexslider solved my issue. Read here https://drupal.org/node/2170183

Hope it helps

Is this still a problem with the latest version of everything?

It doesn't appear to still be an issue on a site I just tested it on that has flexslider_views enabled. Marking as Fixed since it was clearly fixed at some point.
