The link to the documentation on heidisoft.com appears to be broken again. I see that there have been several issues with the link in the past, all marked as closed. The only other documentation is on a third-party, PAY site.

This happens pretty much every time I need to look something up in the documentation. Can the documentation be stored elsewhere?

Hi Rhino-new and eljefejb,

Currently, the documentation on this module is available in the README from the repository viewer:

I'd like to see those files temporarily made available from the link on the project page. Long term, I'd like to the documentation better filled out and moved to Drupal.org so that the community can maintain it and prevent downtime like this.

I'll reach out to heshan.lk to see if we can't start this process. Thanks for your feedback!

I've just made a full maintainer of this project -- sorry I couldn't update this sooner.

As a short run fix, I've updated the module the documentation link in the sidebar of the project page to point to the README file. I've also added a link in the body field to the INSTALL.txt and README.txt files.

Over the next few weeks, I hope to put together more comprehensive documentation on drupal.org that can be edited by anyone.

Hi.

I would like to know if there is any video tutorial out there either on youtube or vimeo on how to go through the whole configuration setup including trans-coding. Thanks

Currently there is only a video tutorial available for a fee. I'd love to put together a permanent free tutorial on Drupal.org, but I haven't had time recently.

Try installing Video module and its dependencies. Then enable the Zencoder submodule. You'll be prompted to install the Zencoder php api in the sites/all/libraries/zencoder folder. You probably also want to install Video JS or the JW Player modules.

Go to the Zencoder configuration form found on the module listing page. Choose Zencoder and supply an email address. You now have a free trial account to Zencoder.

You'll also need to create a default "preset". Basically, this controls how videos are transcoded into different formats (audio quality, video quality, and other settings). To start out just go with the defaults -- you may have to select a few settings, but you can always change them later.

Basically, all the previous steps provide a video field you'll need to add to a content type. Then, when you create nodes that have a video field, you can start uploading video files. The Zencoder submodule will submit the file you upload as a new Zencoder transcoding job. For this to work, your website needs to be a publicly accessible IP or domain name.

Once Zencoder finishes transcoding, the new renditions will be put onto your server and automatically made accessible on the node you uploaded it to originally in the correct format and player.

Hopefully that gets you started!

I've updated the documentation link for the video module to pre-existing documentation on d.o. I'm also working on bringing those nodes up to speed for the current Drupal 7 release of the module.
