current user argument

After 2 weeks of trying to figure it out on my own... Perhaps I'm going about it all wrong.

I'm guessing it's a simple "contextual filter" issue

Source (content type)
Equipment (content type) - referencing a single source (from a select list)
Users - on their profile checks all equipment they own from a referenced list of equipment

Created a view to show a list of the equipment and it's attributes. I want to add a column that shows if the current user owns it.

I split the source and equipment into two content types because they each have several attributes and the same source could have multiple types of equipment.
