Fresh D8 install on SimplyTest.me Alpha 8

First thing, attempt to install this layout module. Result:
layout-8.x-1.x-dev.tar.gz does not contain any .info.yml files. Thus, the module will not install.

To me it is a key ingredient to making D8 brilliant, so I'm hopeful contrib will keep pace!

thanks.

Same here trying to install pathauto on 8 post beta 6. I'm a bit worried since we already are in beta.

I have downloaded this module and not able to see in modules extend section.
Realized that info.yml is not present and by mistake its 7.x info file format.

problem still persists. am i correct to think that ds nor panels can be enabled without this module? thats a critical code path for site building and a big chunk of layout functionality missing. are there any timescales on when we might have a stable version? may have to continue with D7 until this is rock solid... thanks.

drupal without layout is enough reason to consider other cms. im suprised this was not in core. as far as i know this module is the only way to arrange layout from the UI and if its broken, drupal is broken. is there another way to arrange layouts? if so, i need it...

is there any update on a stable release?

Syntapse’s picture

perhaps i am mis-understanding drupal 8 but is it relying on a contrib module for basic layout operations. IMO page manager and panels (in fact most of drupal) is fairly useless without layouts is no-one supporting layouts in drupal 8? lack of response and discussion is suprising and confusing. i thought this would be a MAJOR priority? if i am misunderstanding or misusing module I would greatly appreciate some feedback.

thanks
