These two look like they are RTBC:
#1857690: Link to front page in form element description are not properly replaced in t()
#1898908: Its own permission

There are a bunch of others that are Needs Review.

But mostly it's been almost 3 years since the last release.

@Dave Reid's done this now for a while (Thanks!) and has set this as Seeking new maintainer.

There are 48,343 sites currently listed as maintaining this module.

How do we ensure that this module is better maintained?

I've proposed some ideas here #2138397: Highlight Flattr, Paypal or Whatever Opportunities on Issue Pages & #2185511: Highlight User Contributions & What They Can Do Next in Issue Queue

The community is ultimately the users.

My project is using this module, and so I've volunteered as a 'temporary co-maintainer' -- that is, mostly housekeeping tasks for the duration that my project is active.

And to give people an idea of the level of commitment this requires, in about an hour I've committed both the patches that were RTBC, committed some more code docs, and reviewed about 5 patches (all of which sadly have now gone to 'needs work', but still).

And made a 7.x-1.1 release :)

That's great. Thanks @joachim!

:)

Should we leave this open as a discussion topic for ongoing maintenance of this module?

Sure, I've just changed the title.

Ah, we've got an issue specifically for new maintainers already... :)
