Help with creating node translation sets

I'm trying to figure out to use the i18n_translation_set_create function to create a translation set between two nodes. However the documentation is really sparse for nodes in the documentation and I cannot find any other examples, given that my knowledge of PHP is limited.

Can anybody provide some example code, assuming that I know which nodes I want to create a set with -- including which one is the master?
