I set up my FB app keys and logged out of my site, and then when I go to user/login I expect to see something like "Log in with Facebook", but there is no such button. How can I make it appear?

Aha! It's a block, that's why. Just put your Facebook connect block in a visible region and it will be visible.

Another note on this: you must put API keys on the config page for the block to appear. The keys can be real or fake, but must be there.
