I'm defining a new node type in a custom module. Is there a way of configuring Automatic Nodetitles in my custom module code rather than using the Automatic Nodetitles UI? I've looked at the functions, but can't see an obvious way of doing this. Can anyone help?

Yes, you can do that but that will in the end will create this module only. I would recommend to use this only.
