EntityMalformedException after update

I updated from Commerce Kickstart 7.x-2.6 to version 7.x-2.12 and now see the following error now when I go to product category pages.

EntityMalformedException: Missing bundle property on entity of type taxonomy_term. in entity_extract_ids() (line 7866 of /includes/common.inc).

LINE 7866 of common.inc reads:
throw new EntityMalformedException(t('Missing bundle property on entity of type @entity_type.', array('@entity_type' => $entity_type)));

I have read through similar problems on the forum, but I am not using the Media or File Entity modules referenced in the other forum posts.

Please advise how I can fix this. I am a new drupal user and not a programmer so need a step by step.
