Hello!
I have recently updated my Full Name on drupal.org, but when I look at my profile on groups.drupal.org it does not reflect the new name. The name stays correct on drupal.org and does not revert.
Correct name is "Chris Hycner"
Thank you

FatherShawnThis issue is not unique to hycner. We just bumped into it managing signups for our NYC meet up:
Name present on drupal.org: http://screencast.com/t/mubZUJbD
Not present on groups.drupal.org: http://screencast.com/t/ICSMab6if8J

silverwing CreditAttribution: silverwing commentedCurrently, the Full Name field isn't supported through Bakery for the subsites.
(I'm not sure if there was another issue about this, or if it's something we plan on doing; thus moving to the customization queue for feedback.)

drummYep, profile syncing is in a bit of a transition for now.
I think full name should be removed since we now have separate first and last names, although there is a chance it will be repurposed as a display name.
FatherShawnThe DrupalNYC group depends on the name sync functionality to prepare a list for building security at our monthly meetup. The longer this function is not replaced/upgraded the more work our organizers have to do each month. Combining the current First/Last Name fields into a Display Name value on g.d.o is a fine replacement but the integration as it exists now does not work as designed.

coltraneRe; #2 and #3 could the specific problems be stated?
On d.o I can see that there are fields "Full name", "First or given name", and "Last name or surname". I don't have permission on gdo to see the available fields there but could full name OR first name field and last name field be set to sync?
drummWe are no longer using profile module on Drupal.org, so bakery's profile sync doesn't help us. We could back port http://cgit.drupalcode.org/drupalorg_crosssite/tree/drupalorg_crosssite...., but I'd rather see that time spent on upgrading Groups.Drupal.org to D7.
FatherShawnIs there an issue or initiative for that?

Elijah Lynn2 specific questions:
1.) I don't actually see a fullname field anymore on https://www.drupal.org/user/353190/edit, is this correct?
2.) How does the g.d.o "Full name" column get populated on this page? https://groups.drupal.org/node/469418/signups/list

Elijah Lynn@FatherShawn - I heard in one of the keynotes at DrupalCon LA just recently that the Drupal Association is going to put some love into groups.drupal.org. Not sure of the details though.

joshuamiMore information about the proposed content strategy can be found in #1133434: [META] Content Strategy for Drupal.org. There are quite a few child and related issues.
In summary, the hope is to move groups.drupal.org functionality into Drupal.org so that we can have better integration of user profiles and to better connect discussions to canonical users and projects on Drupal.org. Please add your feedback to these issue if it is of interest to you.

drummIf we want to spend any time on this before the Groups migration, the field would be okay to be made editable directly on groups.drupal.org.

Anonymous (not verified) CreditAttribution: Anonymous commentedGreetings all. I'm signed up for tomorrow's June Drupal Meetup, but my first name/last name isn't showing up on the signup list. I attended last month's Meetup and my first/last name did appear correctly on the list.
My first/last name is showing on my Drupal.org profile, but when I view my profile on groups.drupal.org and the first/last name is not displayed. Additionally, the name field on groups.drupal.org is grayed out and not manually editable. Can someone help me figure out how to get my full name on the June Meetup list?
Many thanks,
Gwynn Turner
Comment #14
Elijah Lynn#12, let's go ahead and make it editable then. It would make running the NYC Drupal meetup much easier for now.

Anonymous (not verified) CreditAttribution: Anonymous commentedThanks Elijah for advising of the first name/last name defect. My full name for security is Gwynn Turner.

jzech CreditAttribution: jzech at MD Systems GmbH commentedJust ran into this issue that my full name does not appear in group event signup. But it is also missing in the profile settings still.
Seems to affect many people signed up within the past year?
drummYes, this has likely been broken since sometime this spring. Since Groups.Drupal.org is the one* remaining Drupal.org site on D6, we won't be back-porting the newer syncing. You can update your profile directly on Groups.Drupal.org.
* There's QA.Drupal.org on D6 too, which is nearly completely replaced by DrupalCI now.
apadernoThe only development done on groups.drupal.org is to replace it. The plan seems to migrate it into drupal.org, as described in #2590497: [meta] Proposal to migrate groups into Drupal.org.
drummRight, this realistically won’t be fixed now.
