Spa Standard

The Spa Standard is a social education experience. The idea for spa standard came from the need for accessible, affordable and pertinent information for members of the spa and wellness industry. The Spa Standard will bring together an online educational experience with a hands on approached utilizing spas owned by our investing company. The founders of Spa Standard are Kelly and Rick Maack, we own Maack Management which is a leisure industry spa and wellness company founded in 2003. Maack Management owns and operates six spa and wellness facilities in luxury hotels in the U.S. and in know as a leader in the industry.
Over the past ten years, we have observed a very scattered and segmented approach to education in the spa and wellness space. There are various educational institutes and schools around the world offering educational credentials and/or certificate programs. There is very little in the way of online education. It is our intention to create an online portal where members of our industry and meet socially and at the same time learn from qualified instructors and each other. A true social educational experience. In addition, Spa Standard will offer students the opportunity to gather locally at a real spa to learn and share their craft and skills.
Our vision is for Spa Standard to be the knowledge and educational resource for the spa and wellness industries. With the help of the Spa Standard community of members, our mission is to revolutionize how spa and wellness industry professionals learn, connect, and inspire each other to improve.
In order to accomplish this mission, we have three simple goals, all of them reliant on input from our members:
• Build professional learning resources that spa and wellness professionals want.
• Deepen and improve opportunities for learning and knowledge exchange.
• Elevate and celebrate spa and wellness professionals in our society.
Spa Standard is a social educational experience. The organization will offer spa and wellness industry based knowledge and information through interactive online video classes, courses and webinars. In addition, Spa Standard will offer hands on knowledge and information at locally based spas. Spa Standard will offer the highest level of instruction and exchange of the most innovative and effective methods available.

The online element of our service will be presented with cutting edge technology to provide a fun, interactive experience for our instructors and students alike. The online community is intended to offer instruction as well as an exchange of ideas between student members. The social network membership will be offered free of charge to members as will our blog and other resources. Similar to Linked-In there will be levels of paid membership for access to higher level learning experiences. There will also be tuition based classes and courses. Initially we intend our courses, videos and seminars to be non-accredited, knowledge based only. Phase two of our business plan calls for full implementation of accredited curriculums, schools and online training.

The nature of the services offered by the spa and wellness community requires, under certain circumstances, hands on, in-person experience. Spa Standard addresses this by utilizing actual spas and live instructors in key areas of the world. The hands-on classes and seminars will, in most cases supplement an online experience.

We will create value for our members by enabling them to:

We believe that Spa Standard utilizing a combination of hands-on learning and online learning, including the mobile Internet, will provide a more social, personalized and rewarding educational experience. Spa Standard seeks to provide experiences that are centered on Spa and Wellness people, their connections, and their interests. Empathetic Exchange - We believe that connecting with peers and instructors and sharing genuine interests create more engaging and meaningful learning and teaching experiences. Members of the spa and wellness community understand their needs. So often, education is provided from and only from to down, authoritative sources. We feel that input and feedback from teachers, students and other industry stakeholders will provide for a very rich and useful knowledge exchange

Unlimited Information and Knowledge Development - The Social Educational Space represents the connections between the elements of like people, subjects, ideas and interests. Every person or entity is represented within the space, and the affiliations between people, subjects, ideas and interests form nearly unlimited connections and opportunity for content. In the space of education there is nothing more valuable than the content provided. There is great value in mass collection of information and knowledge from thoughtful pertinent individuals across the spectrum of stakeholders in the industry. The filtering and presentation of the information and knowledge is where the art and science of Spa Standard meet.

Effective Presentation - We believe that the presentation of content is just as important as the content itself. Engaging the audience is key to building and maintaining the audience. Spa Standard provides a rich entertaining educational experience utilizing top industry professionals and cutting edge technology both online and in person.
