I am basically a WordPress developer and never worked on drupal platform. can someone tell me what is the difference between these 2 applications ?? and which is better you prefer for a rapid website development??

If you just Google you will find lots of resources where many people have compared these two.
In my opinion, it depends upon requirements. If wordpress fits your requirements, just go for it. But Drupal is heavily customization.
